The djembé is undoubtedly, one of the most powerful drums in existence.  It dates back to the 12th century
and the great Mali Empire of West Africa. It has an incredible tonal range,
from thunderclap, to whisper soft, setting it apart from other drums.
Kpanlogo panlogo
traditional peg drum from the Ga Tribe of Ghana.  It is smaller than the conga
but of similar shape and sound. This drum is played with the hands.
Doun Doun

    Doun Doun -
    These double ended bass drums, made with cow skins, are played with sticks
    and are found in many West African countries.

5. Baumba – The time has come to celebrate, pray to have energy so the energy doesn’t fail you.  Sung and composed by Sam Okoth.

7. Jelen – When we leave this world we cannot take our material possessions with us, we leave them all behind.   Sung and composed by Nii Armah.

8. Komenya – A place where people go to sing, dance and celebrate.  A song inspired by the spiritual gatherings of Sam’s mother. An original composition by Sam Okoth, sung by Nii Armah.

9. Otofu – A traditional Ga song about the puberty rites, a ritual which marks the entry of young women into adulthood.  Sung by Nii Armah.

10. Ida – I disapprove of your ways…a song inspired by Sam’s brother who passed away.  Sung and composed by Sam Okoth.
